Well that’s the trees changing colour and autumn is upon us. What a great summer it’s been and the driest September for decades at Gavinburn Cottages. All our self-catering guests have been marvelling at how dry and sunny it’s been. We try to tell our overseas visitors that its like this every year in Scotland!
What a mix of tourists and travellers we have been lucky enough to welcome in this great year for Scotland. We have had guests staying at the cottages for the Commonwealth Games, the Ryder Cup, Radio Ones Big Weekend and even some who were officiating at the Referendum! Not to mention our regulars who just keep coming back for the views, location, Loch Lomond, Glasgow and the serenity. Please have a look at our Trip Advisor page. Gavinburn Cottages are now approaching 30 reviews and they are all five star. Thank you everyone!
It’s also been great to welcome lots of wedding parties who have come to stay at Gavinburn on the run up to a wedding and the post wedding days. Often they book all five self-catering cottages and find it the ideal base for socialising and when the bride and groom stay, it’s unbeatable for stunning photographs on the morning of the big day. Gavinburn Cottages are close to many large hotels in Glasgow and Loch Lomond who specialise in weddings and the five star Mar Hall is just across the River Clyde from us (about 10 minute drive). We have also noticed that we have a lot of guests coming to stay who love our location as it allows them to indulge their other love, Malt Whisky! Remember we put a mini bottle of malt whisky in every welcome hamper at the cottages and the nearby Auchentoshan Distillery (1 mile away) provides every guests with a free tour and a dram.
Other big news is that we have just signed a brand partnership deal with Peter Vardy Ltd, Britain’s leading family owned car dealership, to supply a luxury Land Rover Discovery to help collect guests at Glasgow Airport or Kilpatrick Train Station if they require it and also to fit all our fresh cotton bed linen and duvets in! We are delighted to work with Peter Vardy Ltd, not just because they have offered us great service but also because they are family-owned and know the importance of employees family time and holidays, so much so that none of their showrooms are open on a Sunday, allowing everyone some quality family time!
We have a new guest in the field in front of the cottages! Its Hamish the Highland Bullock and he has joined Merida and Toffee in the task of keeping the grass down. Remember if you come to stay at our cottages, please feel free to give them a pat as they are very friendly. We also have lots of Scottish Blackface ewes just arrived to spend winter on the Kilpatrick Hills before lambing time in the Spring. Of course they first have to meet the rams and they arrive in November to have their fun.
Bookings are coming in thick and fast for 2015 so please get in touch soon. We are full for the festive fortnight but still have a few short break stays or weekly stays available for November and early December and of course we do offer special prices for early 2015 stays. Just check out the updated Local Links page – we’ve filled it with great ideas for things to do when you’re staying at Gavinburn Cottages, be it near Glasgow or Loch Lomond.
