  I’ve stayed at the cottages 3 times now, twice in 2022 and once in 2019. These cottages are truly excellent. The location is superb, you’re up in the hills... read more with a lovely view of surrounding hills, fields and the river Clyde (also Loch Lomond on your right). There are highland cows around the cottages 90%’of the time which really adds something, you can walk up the hills behind the cottages to loch Humphrey if you fancy a little trek! On the other hand, the cottages are near Kilpatrick station - a 20 minute walk down and you can hop on the train to Glasgow and to Edinburgh from there (I’m a Celtic fan living in England so this is a great way to go see my team). Inside the cottages, the view is just as superb. I’ve stayed in ‘Auchentoshan’ and ‘Glenmorangie’ and both are immaculately decorated in a modern, yet cosy style! They are also extremely well equipped with kitchen items (plates, pans, utensils etc), towels, dishwasher, shampoo and shower gel, wood for the fire, storage space - everything! There’s even laundry facilities and DVD’s/board games to choose from as well as leaflets on local attractions. They’re dog friendly! You’re also a 10 minute drive from Dumbarton which has several supermarkets and fuel stations. There’s a small shop in the village and a couple of pubs. We've already stayed twice in the Glenmorangie (one-bedroom end of row cottage) and immediately made sure to book for all of our events for the next year.

Fantastic location with breath-taking views over the River Clyde/Erskine Bridge - sunrise and sunset -wow! Well-equipped. Spotlessly clean. Large walk-in shower. Comfortable. Parking available. Conveniently situated for Loch Lomond in one direction...Glasgow the other.

And to add even more positives - a lovely 'welcome basket' awaits you on arrival stocked with milk, butter, bread, eggs, jam/marmalade, cereals, shortbread, teacakes and a small bottle of the local whisky.

All communication with Alex was clear, helpful and friendly - another bonus!

The surroundings and views are stunning. The cottage lends itself to a drink on the patio during a sunny evening, although we had to dodge the showers for that event.
The location is ideal for travelling around the west of Scotland, with Loch Lomond only 15 mins away by car and Glasgow City Centre easily accessible by car or by train from Old Kilpatrick. The purpose of our stay in August was to relax and meet up with other family members and of course spend time exploring the hillside conveniently located on the doorstep of cottages

Access to and from Glasgow city and airport, and some of the most beautiful scenery the west of Scotland offers is so easy.

Should we ever return to the area, Gavinburn cottages will be our first choice for a home-from-home.

Gavinburn is ideally situated for
sightseeing in this area by public transport or further afield by car.
Very well placed for golfers as many courses nearby and I am sûre Alex could give you more information on these than myself .
Great for visiting family as we did.
We hope to come back with the grandchildren . Children would love to see the animals and play in the garden and explore the hills behind the cottage.
Only the famous scottish weather let us down.
